History

Legends Steakhouse is a regional chain of casual, family-friendly steakhouses with multiple locations in Tennessee.  Each restaurant offers a comfortable atmosphere and a menu featuring classic American steakhouse and Southern fare.

The story of Legends began in 1988 with Johnny Fleeman’s purchase of The Brass Lantern restaurant in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Observing a growing trend of people choosing to dine out rather than cook at home, Fleeman recognized an opportunity to bring high-quality food and service—typically found in larger cities—to his small-town community. His dedication and hard work led to the opening of the first LEGENDS restaurant in Columbia, Tennessee, in 1993. The name “Legends” was inspired by a Packard Bell computer model—Legend 386—seen in a small office at The Brass Lantern. That simple moment sparked a lasting vision: to create restaurants that celebrate the legendary people and places of the communities they serve, complete with meaningful artifacts and a local sense of pride.

Legends operates on a straightforward philosophy—treat every guest as though they own the place. The company refuses to cut corners, placing a strong emphasis on quality and service. All dishes are prepared from scratch using only the finest ingredients, with many recipes passed down from Fleeman’s mother, Faye. Growth within the company stems from cultivating leaders who think and act like owners, always seeking ways to improve their operations. At its core, the Legends brand is driven by a relentless pursuit of excellence, with 100% guest satisfaction being the minimum acceptable standard.
